Vegetable oil-based Biodiesel should not require vehicle modifications, especially if it’s blended correctly for the conditions. Biodiesel New Zealand blends its fuel for the current climatic conditions. If you are planning on higher altitude work or traveling in other extreme weather areas, please ask us if the fuel will be suitable.
Most European-manufactured diesel engines have built-in fuel heaters to help them run Biodiesel in cold conditions.
If you are running the EECA-recommended B5 (5%) blend you need not worry about any vehicle modifications. If you wish to run higher blends (B5-B100), however, you may need to consider helping your vehicle’s fuel system.
Vegetable oil-based Biodiesel can be used in far lower temperatures than its tallow (rendered animal fat) oil-based counterpart.
